Movie Review: Thuppaakki (15th Nov 2012)

‘Sleeper Cells' that’s the only thing is interesting in this film.  Dir Murugadoss didn’t meet the expectation due the regular style of action movie and usual logic blender (having terrorist at home in wardrobe, sr. militarty officer not at all aware of the operation performed by Vijay & many) etc.  Harris miserably fails, except the ‘Google’ song (only for audio).  Many places BG score resembles Harris’s previous films.  Oscar winner Santhosh Sivan was found only in 'Goolge' song for few seconds along with Dir and no foot print of his visual magic in this movie.  Kaajal Agarwal is good, only in appearance.  Vijay should try to perform rather than hoping on stylish look alone.  Sathyan was wasted and comedy channels (Aadhitya/Sirippoli) may find challenge in extracting comedy track from this movie.

Movie Review: MAATTRAAN (14th Oct 2012)

KV Anand disappoints, unlike his earlier movies Ayan, KO.. this movie drags a lot, esp the 2nd half. Hope Russia takes it friendly and ignore the controversy project on athletics, even if it’s true. Can appreciate director's braveness for this. Surya's efforts are commendable, as usual he did his best for the character(s). During the conversation with russians, dual track of Russian & Tamil is irritates and could have done better. Nothing much to quote on Kajal Agarwal.  Music by Harris is OK and 'Kaal Mulaitha Kaatre' song is visually good.

Movie Review: Thandavam (29th Sep 2012)

Story narration was good but screen play should have been made little faster.  Few places it was indigestive about performance by a blind.   Vikram & Anushka love track is good for a watch, recalls Gajini mildly.  Comedy is also underplayed by Santhanam in-line with story which is good.  Nazar could have been utilized more.

Once watchable. 

Movie review: Saattai (22nd Sep 2012)

Samudhrakani & Thambi Ramaiah are acted well and perfect casting.  Story line is easily predictable from the opening itself, which may impact the delightness in watching it further.  No impressive climax, as it ends like abruptly.

Watchable.

Movie Review: Sundarapandiyan (15th Sep 2012)

No wonder in a 'Fruit shop' you can expect only 'Fruit' and not a MEAL.  As the Dir Prabhakaran came from 'Sasikumar & Samudhrakani' team, this movie has the footprint of Sasikumar's previous film(s). But the movie was taken well and watchable.  

Good for a watch.

Movie Review: Mugamoodi (1st Sep 2012)

Dir Myskin attempt was commendable and he did well, indeed he tried a typical South Indian Meals in Continental/Barbeque Resturants.  That's the ball game, well it did not succeed. Climax was crappy, as usual in any BAT MAN movies (there is no differnce Hollywood/Kolywood). 2 songs (Vaaya Moodi & Kudi Vaazthu) are ok by Music Dir K, esp the Ilayaraj's 'Anna Kiliye' song mix in Kudi Vazhthu was nice.  Naren charactersation did not impress well, as claimed/hyped.

Recommended for KIDS (only).

Movie Review: Pandi Oliperukki Nilayam (30th Aug 2012)

Nice movie by Dir Raasu Mathuravan, but he has to come out of his stero type of village based-family subject.  Entire team performance is good and the 1st 1.5hrs movie with the comedy track is really good and makes the film worthy. Climax resmebles Bala's Pithamagan & Avan-Ivan.  Music is OK. 

Good & watchable.

Movie Review: Naan (25th Aug 2012)

Nice story & screen play by Dir Jeeva Shankar.  Vijay Antony's new face as HERO is commendable and he did well.  Background music is good but recalls 'Satham Podaadhe' BG by Yuvan.  All other casting was perfect fit.

Good and worth a watch.

Movie Review: Ajith's Billa-2 (13th Jul 2012)

Tamil version of hollywood movie SCARFACE (1983).  Nothing much to quote as the film lack of logic, screenplay and many things.  Ajit's appearance as 'Billa' was much better in Billa-1. My humble request to Ajith & team would be to come out of this BILLA'mania and do more other types of films.  Hope & wish no BILLA-3 comes out.

Movie Review: Naan-E (8th Jul 2012)

Modern 'Vittalacharya' movie but taken well & a must watch. Hats off to Dir SS Rajmouli for his brave & clean attempt.  Excellent CG works which brings the feel of fly as a REAL HERO of the movie. Very cute to see the last song  danced by Fly with Karhti & Vijay movements. 

Must watch.

Movie Review: Saguni (22nd Jun 2012)

Not upto the expectation. Songs & Screen play is a big -ve for the success.  Karthi & Santhanam did well, asusual. Their comedy track is good. Heroin casting gives a feel of "purposefully brought in without a purpose". GV Prakash disappoints, that too copycat of MIB theme in BG score.

Movie Review: Thadaiyara Thakka (9th Jun 2012)

Clean screenplay & good action movie by Dir Magizh Thirumeni in the series of Polladhavan, Paiyaa. But only 2nd half seems to be lengthy which could have been trimmed well. Sukumar's cinematography is perfect. MD Thaman BG is good than songs. All cast did well.

Good & watchable.

Movie Review:  Manam Kothi Paravai (7th Jun 2012)

Decent love story with casual entertainment. Dir Ezhil did a clean work. Shivakarthikeyan did well, but imitate dhanush in few places (still could improve).  Heroin Athmeeya doesn't look like a new face and perfectly fits for the role. She performed well too. Comedies are in-line with the story which is a plus. Iman's music scored average.

Overall good & watchable.

Movie Review: Padam Paarthu Kadhai Sol (2nd Jun 2012)

Padam parthen, but yenna soldradhunnu dhaan theriyala :(. Except Cinmeatography & Music (Esp BG score), rest all below average only. Herione resembles Nadhiya & Priya Raman. Stunts/Shooting scenes are very artifical and exasperate.

Below average movie.

Movie Review: Ishtam (1st Jun 2012)

Very simple love story.  Kalavani Vimal’s new look console somehow.  Santhanam is perfect at his part as usual and here are some of his punches…

1. ( to a pros girl) Neeyellam Nila madhiri, yirutaanadhukku appuram varanum and vidiyarudhukku munnadi poyidanum.
2. (to vimal) Ponnunga Thalaila Pen yillama kooda yiruppanga... aana, kayila phone yillama yirukka maattanga
3. (to vimal) Andha addressa yeduthu 'Akkule'la pottu search pannu... Vimal confused... San replies 'Google'da just for comedykku sonnen.
4. (to vimal) Yenna dhann thuni kadai ownerah yirundhallum, kulikkumbodhu avuthu pottuttu dhaan kulikkanum...

Movie Review: Kalakalappu (13th May 2012)


Dir Sundar C did a clean casual comedy. All cast did well, esp Mirchi Siva's come back is good after 'Tamilpadam'.  Santhanam & Mano bala track is good, but recalls  'Kanden Kadhalai' movie.  Ilavarasu comedy track is good.  Music is just OK. At the end you may feel the movie is bit lengthy and could have trimmed.

Watchable for a casual laughter.

Movie Review: Vazhakku Yen 18/9 (6th May 2012)

Another perfect movie on REALITY, from Dir Balaji Sakthivel.  Good team work but the move just SHOWCASE the 'whole' in  the current Law&Order system.  Of course not expecting a solution from director, but it gives a feel like a 'social discussion' was abandoned without a Decision/Action Item as we could feel just sorry for the happening and no clarity on what needs TO BE done for the future.

Movie Review: OK OK (15th Apr 2012)

Movie sure will keep you happy, ofcourse due to Koliwood's Sachin.  Yeah, like Sachin.. Santhanam perofrmed his role with fullest best possible way, which only drives the movie.  Dir Rajesh must change his track for more better creations instead of same type of plots, ofcourse he deserves it. 

Formula: OK OK= 1st OK for Santhanam & 2nd OK for Dir Rajesh & Hanshika

Good movie for a casual watch.

Movie Review: 3 Three (14th Apr 2012)

Did not meet the expectation, even 1%.   Puliya Paarthu Poonai Soodu potta maadhiri yirukk, Dir Aishwarya's attempt on this movie (lot of resembleance of Selvaragavan's "Mayakkam Yenna?").  Honestly after watching this movie, if you listent to "Kolaveri" song it irritates.

Crap movie.  Must avoid.

A good eye-opener for Parents.  Excellent attempt to bring revolution in education system.  I wish it should not go vain, as treating by just a movie.  Govt/Politician should give a thought to it.

Movie Review: Aravaan (11th Mar 2012)

Thought provoking message with a good movie making, Hats off to Dir Vasantha Balan. Good screen play and a decent BG score. Entire team taken us to the ancient times and amazing art direction. Too painfull scene at the climax, but it is a MUST for the MESSAGE caption comes after the climax.

Good to watch.

Movie Review: Kaadhalil Sodhappuvaadu Yeppadi? (26th Feb 2012)

Dir Balaji Mohan just started the movie's 1st scene like Holywood Mr.& Mrs. Smith but after that made it disappointed.  At one point dir himself got confused, whether Sodhappal in Kaadhal is due to girl/boy?.. which made the movie making a big 'sodhappal'.  Ultimate msg he conveys that "PURIDHAL YILLAYEL... PIRIDHAL YERPPADUM'.  Sidharth still retains the BOYS effect in his face which makes film boring.  Amala Paul did her best.  Thaman's Music is not commendable at all. 

Below average movie.

Movie Review: Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal (22nd Feb 2012)

Dir. Elred Kumar attempted a habitual "Psycho Thriller" with a mix of sentiment & love.   (Must recall here, ‘7g’ deserves a great salute to Dir. Selvaragavan esp. for the CLARITY)  MUK 1st half was ok but the 2nd half is too mind-numbing.  Adharva should try to perform something instead of giving stare look & same modulation of dialogues.  That way Amala Paul is OK.  GVP did not score much in songs & BG.  Santhanam somehow console the screenplay but no great hilarious track.

Movie Review: Marina (18th Feb 2012)

Dir & producer attemted a documentory on Child Education. Excellent cinematography by Vijay that produces as effect that we are LIVELY at Marina beach. Music by Girishh is not so commendable. 'Pakoda' Pandian is the hero than Siva Karthikeyan, as promoted. After 1st 1 hour the film is dragging a lot and at the end NO STRONG MESSAGE, which was expected (trustfully) from Dir.Pandiraj.

Below Average.

Lingu made a routine action packed commercial movie, where we can't expect anymore special features for film making. Yuvan rocks as usual.  Arya & Madhavan full filled what director expected.

Movie Review: Nanban (13th Jan 2012)

If you have not watched "3 Idiots" in Hindi then this will be a GOOD to watch movie. 100% remake of Hindi Version. Many places Vijay tried to imitate Amirkhan, where Vijay could have acted on his style. This imitation forces us to compare with Amirkhan performance.  Classic example to be followed is Kamal's Vasool Raja.  Overall the entire crew did well and reproduced the original at their best.
Good to watch.
